Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2, 2026

PassingBy ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.

Data We Collect

PassingBy collects the following data, all of which is stored exclusively on your device:

  • Location data — Your geographic coordinates are captured each time you open the app, in order to drop a pin at your current location.
  • Bookmarks — Restaurant names, ratings, price levels, addresses, and photos that you choose to bookmark.
  • Places cache — Nearby restaurant data from the Google Places API is cached locally to reduce redundant network requests.

How Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. No data is ever sent to, stored on, or processed by any external server owned or operated by us. We do not have access to your data.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the Google Places API to retrieve information about nearby restaurants (names, ratings, photos, reviews). These requests are made directly from your device to Google's servers. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

No other third-party services, analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs are used.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your personal data to any third party. There is no account system, no cloud sync, and no server-side component.
