Poly: Replay — Privacy Policy
Effective May 10, 2026
Poly: Replay is a private language-learning drill. You bring in a conversation you had somewhere else, recreate it inside the app, and practice it by typing or listening. We do not share your conversations with anyone, and there is no in-app way for other users to see them.
Who we are
"Poly: Replay" (the "App") is operated by the developer of the
com.doe.poly.replay application. Throughout this policy
"we," "our," and "us" refer to that developer. You can reach us at
[email protected].
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign up, we collect an email address (or equivalent identifier) and a password hash so we can authenticate you and sync your data across your own devices.
- The conversations you create in the app. Every "virtual chat" you save — the partner name, the optional phone label you give them, the language you tag, and every message you type — is stored on our server, linked to your account. This is necessary for the app to work; without it your chats would not persist across sessions or devices.
- Language preferences and in-app settings. Your chosen target language, EN/ES toggle position, picked avatar, and tutorial-completion state are stored locally on your device and synced to your account so the app remembers them next time.
- Text you send to translation. When you create or replay a message, we send the message text to a translation service (currently routed through our own backend, which may in turn use third-party translation providers) so we can render and speak it in the other language. The translated text is stored alongside the original message on our server.
What we do not collect
- We do not access your phone's contact list. The "phone number" field when creating a contact in the app is a label you choose; it is not validated against any real phonebook.
- We do not access your photos, camera, location, calendar, or health data.
- We do not collect or transmit audio from your microphone for this version of the app's core flow. (The app may request microphone permission for future speech-practice features. If enabled, that disclosure will be added here.)
- We do not run third-party advertising SDKs and we do not share data with advertisers.
- We do not use analytics services that fingerprint or track you across other apps and websites.
How we use your data
- To run the app. Account info authenticates you. Your conversations are loaded so you can replay them. Translation text is processed so the loop and practice features work.
- To improve the app. Aggregate, non-identifying information (e.g., crash reports, API error rates) may be reviewed to fix bugs.
- For nothing else. We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it with marketers. We have no business model that depends on doing so.
Where your data lives
Your account and chats are stored on servers we operate. Text sent to translation may be temporarily processed by third-party language providers (such as Google Cloud Translation) under their respective privacy and data-retention policies. Speech is generated on your device using your operating system's built-in text-to-speech engine; no audio recording leaves your device.
Your rights and controls
- Delete a chat. Long-press any chat in the Chats list and confirm Delete. The chat and every message in it are removed from your account.
- Delete your entire account. Open the You tab and tap "Delete account." This permanently removes your account and every chat associated with it from our servers. The action is irreversible.
- Log out. Open the You tab and tap "Log out" to sign out on this device without deleting any data.
- Request a copy of your data. Email us at [email protected] and we will send you an export of everything we have associated with your account, in machine-readable form, within 30 days.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or by email before they take effect.
